May. 18, 2018—The University Staff Advisory Council welcomed Vice Chancellor for Communications Steve Ertel as speaker at its May meeting. Last year, Chancellor Nicholas S. Zeppos identified the need to pull the communications functions from the Division of Public Affairs and recruited Ertel to champion the restructure.
Mar. 30, 2018—The C.A.R.E. (Civility, Appreciation and Respectful Environments) Committee is seeking stories from faculty and staff about instances when they’ve witnessed or received an expression of kindness involving a co-worker at Vanderbilt.
Mar. 14, 2018—Chancellor Nicholas S. Zeppos spoke to the University Staff Advisory Council on March 13, saluting the nearly 4,500 staff members for their role in Vanderbilt's upward trajectory.
Feb. 20, 2018—At its February meeting, the University Staff Advisory Council welcomed Associate Vice Chancellor and Chief Facilities Officer Mike Perez, who gave an overview of the FutureVU initiative. Perez spoke about current projects as well as future areas of focus and provided a vision of what the Vanderbilt campus may look like by 2023.
Feb. 9, 2018—The University Staff Advisory Council is working with Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee to collect food items around campus during the month of February.
Feb. 5, 2018—The University Staff Advisory Council will team with the American Red Cross to sponsor a blood drive on Friday, Feb. 16. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Sarratt Student Center.
Jan. 15, 2018—At its first meeting of 2018, the University Staff Advisory Council hosted Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Susan R. Wente, who discussed key university initiatives including Immersion Vanderbilt, graduate education, international strategy, big data and more.
Nov. 22, 2017—VUPD Assistant Chief Rick Burr and a panel of Vanderbilt administrators trained in crisis management addressed the University Staff Advisory Council at its November meeting to discuss protests, demonstrations and other types of events that may lead to unrest on campus.

Apr. 6, 2017—Sandra Barnes, Vanderbilt University assistant vice chancellor for equity, diversity and inclusion, and Arie Nettles, associate professor of clinical pediatrics and director of the Office of Inclusion and Health Equity at the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, discussed the importance of diversity and inclusion in the workplace April 6.
