Musical Arrangements: Vanderbilt Blair School of Music adapts practices and performances to navigate COVID-19
Feb. 23, 2021—The COVID-19 pandemic has forced the entire Vanderbilt community to change its routines. But because of the live-performance nature of music schools, the Blair School has implemented numerous precautions to ensure that faculty and students remain safe—all while maintaining a semblance of the highly personalized instruction for which Blair is known.
Seth Soloway appointed to support performances and external relations at Vanderbilt Blair School of Music
Feb. 2, 2021—Seth Soloway, who was previously executive and artistic director of the Performing Arts Center at Purchase College, State University of New York, has been appointed associate dean of presenting and external relations and director of the Martha Rivers Ingram Center for the Performing Arts at Vanderbilt Blair School of Music.
Grand opening concert highlights Vanderbilt’s partnership with National Museum of African American Music
Jan. 29, 2021—Vanderbilt University will celebrate the grand opening of the National Museum of African American Music on Saturday, Jan. 30, with a virtual concert from Vanderbilt Blair School of Music featuring works by Black composers. The concert will begin at 8 p.m. CT and will be broadcast from Blair’s livestreaming page.
Dec. 2, 2020—Blair Academy at Vanderbilt, the music education program for children, youth and adults at Vanderbilt University Blair School of Music, has developed creative new approaches to build curriculum and share music, despite the challenges of music instruction during the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, enrollment for the adult program in particular has increased.
