The 2022 cohort of the Nichols Humanitarian Fund gathered for a meet-and-greet event this spring with Edward C. Nichols Jr., JD’70, and his wife, Janice Nichols, who established the fund in 2006. Vanderbilt University’s second Excellence in Podcasting competition was held during the spring 2022 semester. Awards were presented in April to the students whose podcast submissions exemplified the goals of the competition: using audio storytelling to communicate ideas, share perspectives, make arguments and persuade others. Students in the Glacial Geology class took their research to new levels of immersion, collecting soil and rock samples at an elevation of 9,000 feet in the Sawatch Mountain Range of Colorado. Their research helps show the movement of glaciers, ultimately giving clues about the impact of climate change. Read More

A new student exhibit at Central Library explores the connection between disease and isolation while drawing parallels to the COVID-19 pandemic. Junior Lia Okenkova's “Depictions of Leprosy: Isolation for the Ages” features art and literature from the Vanderbilt Fine Arts Gallery and Central Library as well as original poetry. Read More
