Dec. 4, 2019—Daniel Diermeier, an internationally renowned political scientist and management scholar, has been elected Vanderbilt University’s ninth chancellor. He will begin his term as chancellor on July 1, 2020. Diermeier currently is the provost at the University of Chicago, where he previously served as dean of the Harris School of Public Policy.
Sep. 18, 2019—The Vanderbilt community broadly endorses the direction the university has taken in the last decade and wants the next chancellor to continue that momentum, according to an analysis of responses to an online survey and other feedback efforts in the search for Vanderbilt's next chancellor.

May. 3, 2019—Vanderbilt University Board of Trust Chairman Bruce R. Evans has appointed a Chancellor Search Advisory Committee to assist in the search for the university’s ninth chancellor.
Apr. 26, 2019—Adolpho A. Birch III, an NFL executive who is a Law School alumnus and secretary of the Board of Trust, spent the days leading up to the 2019 NFL draft sharing his experiences and advice with the campus community.
Apr. 22, 2019—Resolutions have been approved by the Board of Trust, Faculty Senate, Vanderbilt Student Government, Alumni Board of Directors and the Tennessee General Assembly that commend Chancellor Nicholas S. Zeppos for his leadership and accomplishments as chancellor.
Apr. 19, 2019—The Vanderbilt Board of Trust elected four new members and re-elected six others at its April 18 meeting.
Apr. 12, 2019—Vanderbilt University Board of Trust Chairman Bruce R. Evans has appointed a Chancellor Search Committee for Vanderbilt University’s ninth chancellor. The committee comprises current and emerita members of the Board of Trust and will lead efforts to search for and select a candidate for recommendation to the full Board of Trust.
