Jan. 27, 2021—Transformations of the West End and Peabody neighborhoods, pioneering solar energy partnerships, improved recycling and more sustainable transportation choices are among the achievements outlined in the latest FutureVU progress report.
Nov. 2, 2020—Undergraduate students and their families are invited to a virtual town hall meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 4, to discuss ongoing construction in the West End Neighborhood as well as student housing in the area. The virtual meeting is scheduled from 5 to 6 p.m. and will be conducted via Zoom.
Sep. 2, 2020—The opening of Nicholas S. Zeppos College marks a milestone in the transformation of the West End Neighborhood, while a completed renovation on the Peabody College campus strengthens its learning community.
May. 4, 2020—As part of continuing construction in the West End Neighborhood, portions of 25th Avenue and Vanderbilt Place will be repaved starting Tuesday, May 12.
Feb. 3, 2020—The new Transit Hub, located west of Rand/Sarratt, is partially open and set to be completed in early February. The Facilities Department is hosting a series of town halls for the Vanderbilt community to voice their concerns, ask questions and learn more about the West End Neighborhood project. The next town hall is at 5 p.m. March 12 in the Carmichael Towers East Lounge.
Jan. 6, 2020—The Vanderbilt Facilities department will host a town hall meeting to discuss progress in the West End Neighborhood on Thursday, Jan. 9, from 5 to 6 p.m. in the Carmichael Towers East Lounge.
Dec. 11, 2019—A recent town hall meeting gave Vanderbilt community members an update on progress being made on several of the university’s capital projects, as well as provided next steps in the planning processes surrounding academic buildings and spaces.
Nov. 7, 2019—To complete the rest of the structural work for the planned 20-story West End Tower, the crane needs an extension. Construction hours will change this weekend, with work beginning at 7 a.m. on Saturday. If the work is not completed on Saturday, work on the crane will begin again at 7 a.m. on Sunday.
Oct. 31, 2019—The Vanderbilt Facilities department will host a town hall discussing the West End Neighborhood project on Thursday, Nov. 7, from 5 to 6 p.m. in the Carmichael Towers East Lounge.
Oct. 22, 2019—Beginning Oct. 21, Vanderbilt Place will be closed east of 24th Avenue. Pedestrian traffic should use the north sidewalk on Vanderbilt Place between 24th Avenue and West Side Row until further notice.
Oct. 18, 2019—The West End Neighborhood is celebrating another milestone with the opening of the Zeta Tau Alpha and National Pan-Hellenic Council houses located on the new Kensington Promenade. The community is invited to attend a special grand opening ceremony for the NPHC house today, Oct. 18, at 5:30 p.m.
Sep. 24, 2019—The Vanderbilt community can now enjoy new green spaces in the West End Neighborhood featuring pedestrian- and bike-friendly pathways as well as grassy areas ideal for studying, relaxing and hosting outdoor gatherings.
