Margaret Stonewall Wooldridge Hamblet award
May. 8, 2018—Joshua Forges has been inspired to make art ever since his second-grade teacher complimented his drawing of an alligator. She recommended that Forges attend art-focused magnet schools in his native Miami, and by high school, he was taking college-level classes and drawing, painting and sculpting up to four hours each day.
Apr. 28, 2017—Conor G. Bloomer, a senior from Watertown, Massachusetts, is this year's recipient of the Department of Art’s prestigious Margaret Stonewall Wooldridge Hamblet Award. The Senior Show installation is on display until May 12.
Jan. 4, 2017—The Vanderbilt University Department of Art welcomes Alexis Jackson, recipient of the 2015 Margaret Stonewall Wooldridge Hamblet Award, for her exhibition "Sign of the Diaspora" beginning Jan. 12.
Nov. 10, 2016—A Department of Art exhibition examining the role of art therapy in the recovery process of patients being treated for mental disorders has been curated by alumna Lindsey Lybrand.
May. 4, 2016—Vibhuti Krishna, a senior from Solon, Ohio, is the recipient of the Department of Art’s Margaret Stonewall Wooldridge Hamblet Award for 2016. As this year’s Hamblet winner, she will receive $25,000 for a year of art research and travel culminating in a solo show at Vanderbilt in one year.
Mar. 22, 2016—The Department of Art will open its galleries to reveal the works of 12 graduating art majors. Senior Show 2016 will run from April 15 to May 13 in Space 204, the second-floor gallery at the E. Bronson Ingram Studio Art Center.

Sep. 3, 2014—“The Gift: 30 Years of the Margaret Stonewall Wooldridge Hamblet Award” opens Thursday, Sept. 25, at Space 204 in the E. Bronson Ingram Studio Arts Center at Vanderbilt.
Apr. 18, 2014—The 2014 recipient of the prestigious Margaret Stonewall Wooldridge Hamblet Award is David Krenz of Spring Hill, Tenn.
Mar. 27, 2014—The Department of Art will open its galleries April 11 to reveal the work of seven graduating art majors, as well as work by other Vanderbilt art students completed this semester.
Jan. 30, 2014—Hannah Stahl, BA’12, received Vanderbilt’s Margaret Stonewall Wooldridge Hamblet Award, allowing the means for travel and independent art activity for one year. She visited Italy, Amsterdam and Poland—where her trip to Auschwitz inspired 10 paintings of the faces of female prisoners, shortly before execution. The display is currently on view at Vanderbilt’s Space 204.
Dec. 12, 2013—The Vanderbilt University Department of Art is proud to welcome to Space 204 its 2012 Hamblet award winner, Hannah Stahl, and her solo exhibition of stirring portraits inspired by victims of the Holocaust.
