Nov. 26, 2018—Florence Price was the first African American woman to have her music performed by a major symphony orchestra—in 1933. Vanderbilt Assistant Professor of Musicology Douglas Shadle, the Vanderbilt Symphonic Choir, Tennessee State University countertenor Patrick Dailey and Vanderbilt Associate Professor of Choral Studies and Choral Director Tucker Biddlecombe will perform some of Price’s arrangements of African American spirituals in a free concert Nov. 27 in the Steve and Judy Turner Recital Hall at Blair School of Music.
Aug. 24, 2018—Vanderbilt’s most prestigious faculty prize for accomplishments in research, scholarship or creative expression was awarded to Professor of Cell and Developmental Biology Kathleen Gould Aug. 23. She was one of 10 award recipients during Fall Faculty Assembly.

May. 7, 2018—Samantha Long, who is majoring in musical arts (voice) at Blair School of Music, came to Nashville with many interests, not certain if music would be her path. But after doing a bit of searching, she found that singing was still her passion.
Apr. 11, 2018—The Vanderbilt Chorale and Symphonic Choir, the Blair Children’s Chorus, the Vanderbilt University Orchestra and evangelist Tyler Nelson will perform the piece at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 13, in Ingram Hall at Blair School of Music under the direction of Tucker Biddlecombe, conductor, and Gayle Shay, director.
Mar. 29, 2018—The Vanderbilt Libraries will host "The Silent Voices Project" on Tuesday, April 10, in the Central Library’s Community Room. Under the artistic direction of Blair faculty member Zachary Ebin, the Toronto-based Ton Beau String Quartet will perform trios and quartets by young composers based on poetry written by children of the Holocaust.
