Acclaimed journalist Byron Pitts to speak at 2023 MLK Day commemorative event on Monday
 
Emmy Award–winning journalist and author Byron Pitts, co-host of ABC’s Nightline, will be the keynote speaker for Vanderbilt University’s 2023 Martin Luther King Jr. Day commemorative event. This year’s topic is “It Starts with Me: Cultivating a Beloved Community Mindset to Transform Unjust Systems.” Please register in advance to attend the in-person event or to watch online.

The Vanderbilt Blair School of Music has been approved by the National Endowment for the Arts to receive a Grants for Arts Projects award of $20,000. Led by professor Douglas Shadle, the grant will fund “Florence Price: A Celebration,” a series of performances honoring classical composer Florence Price.

The ambassador of the Republic of Ireland to the United States, Geraldine Byrne Nason, will discuss international relations on Thursday, Jan. 19, at Vanderbilt.
