Intelligent Systems, an indoor air quality monitoring startup founded by Tim Darrah, a Ph.D. student in computer science, has won a stage 2 grant from VentureWell, which funds and trains faculty and student innovators to create successful, socially beneficial businesses. Darrah grew Intelligent Systems through the Wond’ry, Vanderbilt’s Innovation Center.

In accordance with recent changes to CDC guidelines, Vanderbilt University has updated its visitor policy after consulting with public health experts. Beginning Monday, Aug. 2, visitors coming to campus must wear a mask indoors, whether vaccinated or unvaccinated.

Vanderbilt’s Inclusive Book Group will meet online Wednesday, Aug. 4, to discuss “When Breath Becomes Air,” a memoir that offers readers an intimate look at the profound moments that shaped a young doctor’s life before and after his cancer diagnosis. The virtual gathering will take place from noon to 1 p.m. CT.

Occupational Health now offering walk-in COVID-19 vaccinations
 
The Vanderbilt Occupational Health Clinic is now offering the COVID-19 vaccine to Vanderbilt faculty, staff and postdoctoral scholars on a walk-in basis. Those who need their first or second dose of the Pfizer vaccine may walk in to the Occupational Health Clinic vaccination location on the sixth floor of the Medical Arts Building.
