Study to explore lymphedema self care for cancer survivors

Dec. 15, 2016—Vanderbilt University School of Nursing (VUSN) Assistant Professor Jie Deng, Ph.D., R.N., has been awarded a $789,000 research scholar grant by the American Cancer Society to develop and test a self-care program for head and neck cancer survivors diagnosed with secondary lymphedema and fibrosis (LEF).

New faculty: Susanna Rudy is developing a national fellowship standard for ENPs

Oct. 25, 2016—New Instructor in Nursing Susanna Rudy brings to Vanderbilt a wealth of experience. She’s a board-certified nurse practitioner in emergency, family and adult-gerontology acute care who earned a master’s degree in forensic science before earning master of science in nursing and doctor of nursing practice degrees, the latter two from Vanderbilt.

VUSN, Sexual Assault Center create online training for student volunteers

Oct. 20, 2016—Soon Vanderbilt University School of Nursing (VUSN) students interested in serving as crisis and support line volunteers for Nashville’s Sexual Assault Center (SAC) will be able to do so from any location in the country with the help of a newly developed online training program envisioned by Ginny Moore, DNP, and SAC’s Amanda Markham.
