May. 16, 2019—Vanderbilt’s Aerospace Design Laboratory again has earned top honors in NASA’s National Student Launch Competition, the lab’s sixth national championship and second consecutive win in 12 years.

Launch Pad: Vanderbilt’s internationally acclaimed student rocket team has propelled many alumni into the science of spaceflight
Feb. 19, 2019—During the past 11 years, NASA has awarded the Vanderbilt rocket team eight payload design awards and five national championships. The team has won a total of 30 national and international awards and 16 regional awards. In addition, the Vanderbilt Aerospace Design Lab has launched an impressive number of graduates into roles at companies such as SpaceX, Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Raytheon, Rolls Royce, NASA and Northrop.
Mar. 29, 2018—Engineering students in the Vanderbilt Aerospace Design Laboratory will demonstrate their solution to a common rocket dilemma at the 2018 NASA Student Launch Competition on April 7.
Oct. 4, 2017—The Chancellor’s Cup is presented annually to the professor who makes the greatest intellectual and academic contributions to undergraduate students outside of classroom teaching.
May. 12, 2016—Vanderbilt student rocketeers have won NASA’s Orbital-ATK University Student Launch competition for the fourth year in a row.
Apr. 20, 2016—The Vanderbilt student rocket team collected two key awards in NASA’s Student Launch Challenge following a near flawless flight April 16 at Bragg Farms in Toney, Alabama.
Feb. 5, 2016—Amrutur Anilkumar, professor of the practice of aerospace and mechanical engineering, has been named the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics 2016 Faculty Advisor of the Year.
Nov. 20, 2015—A student team hosted by the Vanderbilt Aerospace Design Lab is off to a strong start defending its national rocketry title in the 2015-16 NASA University Student Launch Challenge competing against a field of 39 other university teams.
May. 12, 2015—For the third year in a row, the Vanderbilt Aerospace Club has won NASA’s eight-month long rocketry competition – the 2014-15 Student Launch Challenge – beating out 30 other university and college teams.
