Jun. 23, 2017—Commodore track and field star Simone Charley added to her list of accomplishments on Friday when she was named a first-team Academic All-American for track and field/cross country by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Aug. 10, 2016—The Vanderbilt women’s tennis team advanced to the Final Four in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in an attempt to repeat their national championship, but ended the season with a loss to Stanford. The Commodores, the No. 6 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament, ended with a 23–6 record.
Feb. 29, 2016—Charley, a native of Birmingham, Alabama, and the cousin of former Vanderbilt football player Damien Charley, BS’99, came to Vanderbilt on a soccer scholarship but is even more accomplished in the triple-jump. She finished fourth in the nation at the Indoor NCAA Championships last March and, three months later, followed up with a third-place finish at the Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Oregon.
