Vanderbilt University will participate in Earth Hour on Saturday, March 25, by turning off the exterior lights at West End Tower from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. Vanderbilt’s participation, in coordination with Nashville Mayor John Cooper’s office, is part of a Metro Nashville initiative to have businesses and organizations across the city collaborate to raise awareness about climate change. Vanderbilt attends campus climate change conference co-hosted by the White House
As a leader in sustainability practices in higher education, Vanderbilt University was invited to participate in Campus and Community-Scale Climate Change Solutions, a two-day workshop in Washington, D.C., co-hosted by the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and the University of Washington. Kirkland Hall fencing to be expanded beginning March 8
Beginning Wednesday, March 8, the construction fencing around Kirkland Hall will expand to fully enclose Kirkland Circle between Warren and Moore Colleges and E. Bronson Ingram College. Crane work at Village at Vanderbilt will be on Saturdays beginning March 4
Beginning Saturday, March 4, there will be work at The Village at Vanderbilt to replace the roof on the fourth floor. The work will be from 6:30 a.m. to noon on Saturdays. Bicentennial Oak, beloved campus landmark, has died
The Bicentennial Oak, the only tree on Vanderbilt’s campus known to predate the founding of the university, succumbed to age-related decay and fell Nov. 12. Estimated to be some 250 years old, the bur oak was one of the most recognizable trees on campus, serving as a landmark near Garland Hall for generations of Vanderbilt community members.
