In recognition of Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, the School of Medicine Basic Sciences will host a panel discussion, “On the Cutting Edge: Research Toward a Cure for Colorectal Cancer,” on Tuesday, March 30, from 11 a.m. to noon CT.
The online event is free and open to the public. Registration is required. Participants will be able to submit questions in advance through the registration page.
Moderated by David Cortez, professor and interim chair of the biochemistry department and associate director for basic science research at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center, the discussion will cover innovative research in colorectal cancer and how it can move the needle toward less-toxic treatments and better outcomes for patients.
Panelists are Dr. Jordan Berlin, Ingram Professor of Cancer Research, associate director for clinical research at the VICC and professor of medicine in the Division of Hematology and Oncology; Dr. Robert Coffey, professor of medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition; Dr. Ethan Lee, professor of cell and developmental biology; and Dr. Alissa Weaver, professor of cell and developmental biology.
