Julia “Jules” Ashworth (class of 2026) fell in love with the French language at an early age, when she took her first French class in the third grade. She continued to study French up until middle school, when she was required to take Spanish, but then re-enrolled in French as soon as she got to high school. Ashworth’s curiosity and wide-ranging interests led her to triple major in philosophy, communication studies, and French. Read More

The Biodiversity Heritage Library has announced a new collaboration with Vanderbilt University’s Jean and Alexander Heard Libraries that will provide digital preservation support for the world’s largest open-access repository of natural history materials. Through the agreement, the Heard Libraries will contribute cloud infrastructure expertise and technical leadership for BHL, which serves as a foundational resource for biodiversity science, taxonomy and conservation research, with more than 63 million pages dating from the 15th to the 21st century. Vanderbilt University’s planned West Palm Beach campus has gained crucial momentum with the donation of several parcels of prime land totaling over an acre from longtime West Palm Beach developer and philanthropist Jeff Greene and his wife, Mei Sze Greene. The Greenes’ gift—comprising eight contiguous parcels—expands the site established through commitments by the City of West Palm Beach and Palm Beach County, creating a unified footprint for the university’s new graduate campus. Gabrielle Goodwin, a freshman at Vanderbilt University, turned a childhood frustration with hair barrettes falling out into a patented product and thriving business. Working with her mother, she created GaBBY Bows, a double-snap barrette designed to stay securely in place, and later launched a company focused on promoting confidence and entrepreneurship among young girls. Now a student at Vanderbilt, Goodwin continues to grow her business while mentoring aspiring young entrepreneurs and encouraging others to turn their ideas into opportunities. Read More

Vanderbilt University Public Safety will conduct an off-cycle test of the Big Voice Outdoor Siren System on Saturday, March 14, at noon. This brief test is necessary to complete scheduled maintenance and ensure that the system stays fully operational.
