Celebrating Two Chancellor’s Cup Winners: Over this academic year, two professors tied for the Chancellor’s Cup, an award given annually to honor faculty who contribute to the university’s success through their teaching and research and provide “the greatest contribution outside the classroom to undergraduate student-faculty relationships in the recent past.” In February, Chancellor Daniel Diermeier, Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs C. Cybele Raver and President of the Nashville Vanderbilt Club Melissa Lee Smithson surprised Associate Professor of Medicine, Health, and Society Gilbert Gonzales while he was teaching to present the award.
