Event to promote organ donation, recognize engineering alum is Nov. 29
Because Justin Langford was an organ donor, today five lives have been saved and 70 lives have been improved through eye, tissue and skin donation. Rediscovered: A Lecture Concert on the Music of Florence Price
Florence Price was the first African American woman to have her music performed by a major symphony orchestra—in 1933. Vanderbilt Assistant Professor of Musicology Douglas Shadle, the Vanderbilt Symphonic Choir, Tennessee State University countertenor Patrick Dailey and Vanderbilt Associate Professor of Choral Studies and Choral Director Tucker Biddlecombe will perform some of Price’s arrangements of African American spirituals in a free concert Nov. 27 in the Steve and Judy Turner Recital Hall at Blair School of Music.
