Since the start of the fall semester, Vanderbilt Campus Dining has worked hard to gather feedback from students about their dining experience. Through discussions with the Dining Advisory Board, Vanderbilt Student Government and student surveys, we have made changes that meet the diverse tastes, dietary preferences and sustainability goals of the Vanderbilt community.
Key Upgrades:
- Markets: Our Munchie Marts will expand their hours; during the week all markets will open at 7 a.m. and close at 11 p.m. For weekends, they will open at 9 a.m. and close at 11 p.m. Common Grounds will have pastries available. Highland Market will keep serving serve hot breakfast and dinner options this spring.
- Zeppos Dining Hall is adding several exciting menu items on select days, including falafel, salmon cakes and gyros. The salad bar will have house-made ranch dressing, and dessert lovers can look forward to soft-serve ice cream.
- The Kitchen at Kissam: The popular Poke Bowls will be available during Monday dinner as well as Friday lunch.
- Rand Dining Hall: The Chef James Bistro station will have grilled chicken sandwiches and a rotation of “comfort food” sides like mac and cheese. Lunch will be getting a pasta station, and whole milk will be available for self-pour.
- Commons Dining Hall: Soups are coming to the menu at Commons on select days! The pizza station will convert to a pasta station at dinner. Weekday lunch will now feature a taco station, and the Grille will have a chicken breast option at lunch and dinner.
- Bronson Ingram Dining Hall: Our upgraded Sunday brunch will have breakfast bakes and crepes. The Power Plant and Daily Juice stations will have more menu options at lunch, and the Global Meats station will have new rotations at dinner. The popular Friendsgiving meal—maple-brined smoked chicken, mashed sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, green bean casserole, dressing and a pumpkin dessert—will be part of the regular meal rotation.
- Rothschild Dining Hall: The Chef’s Table at Rothschild will see the return of Swaadisht, a South Asian-inspired station, along with more beef, fish and vegan/vegetarian options. We are also adding more toppings to the dinnertime ramen bar. Rice, Rice Baby will feature stir-fried noodles at select meal periods, and the Grille’s dinner menu will get a refresh to feature student favorites. Finally, this dining hall will get a milk dispenser with whole milk and chocolate milk.
- Carmichael: Cafe Carmichael will add calzones, charcuterie, tapas, and cicchetti on a rotating schedule during dinner. Soups will also be available at dinner.
Student Engagement:
- We are excited to introduce the Dine and Discuss program, where Vanderbilt students can get one free meal per semester with a faculty member of their choice at select Vanderbilt Campus Dining locations. Stay tuned for this launch!
