The Vanderbilt Recreation and Wellness Center and Health Plus will host the next installment of Vandy Cooks from 5 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, at the Rec Center teaching kitchen.
Vanderbilt senior Sloane Chmara will share her passion for healthy food by making three protein smoothie recipes, including one for a berry acai smoothie.
Chmara is pursuing studies in medicine, health and society and serves as a columnist for the Vanderbilt Hustler. She is the creator Kale & Kravings, a health and wellness brand.
Chmara is a business mentor and avid Instagrammer, YouTuber and blogger. She is the winner of the Food Network’s Chopped U (season 1, episode 6). She is the author of an eBook called Kollege Kravings: Balancing Assignments, Avocados and Alcohol. At Vanderbilt, she is active in Delta Delta Delta, the Vitality Dance Company, hosts a VTV show called The Vandy Cookbook and is a teaching assistant for Professor Jamie Pope’s Nutrition course.
This free cooking demonstration is open to the Vanderbilt community. Attendees will receive samples of the foods prepared and their recipes.
Vandy Cooks is provided monthly through a partnership between the Vanderbilt Recreation and Wellness Center and Health Plus to support healthy eating through cooking presentations featuring the many aspects of food preparation.
