Vandy Cooks: ‘Healthy beef appetizers’ July 11

The Vanderbilt Recreation and Wellness Center and Health Plus present, Vandy Cooks: Healthy Appetizers with Beef, on Wednesday, July 11 from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. in the Vanderbilt Recreation and Wellness Center Teaching Kitchen.

Join Karman Meyer, registered dietitian, as she showcases how to eat healthy with lean beef, an excellent source of protein, vitamin B12, selenium, zinc, niacin, and vitamin B6.

Meyer, a regular contributor to the Food and Nutrition magazine, will create taco lettuce wraps and grilled sirloin crostini with wasabi sour cream. Attendees will receive samples of dishes created, as well as recipes complete with nutrition analysis.

Meyer is a registered dietitian and nutritionist based in Nashville. She is Director of Communications for the Tennessee Beef Industry Council and is an experienced recipe developer, nutrition writer and public speaker. She has worked in the food industry for over 10 years.

Vandy Cooks is provided monthly by a partnership with the Vanderbilt Recreation and Wellness Center and Health Plus to support healthy eating through cooking presentations featuring the many aspects of food preparation.
