The Vanderbilt Recreation and Wellness Center, Health Plus and Rooted Community Health present “Happy Hour,” the next installment of the Vandy Cooks cooking demonstration series, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, in the VRWC demonstration kitchen.

Vandy Cooks is rolling up its sleeves and getting hands on! Happy Hour attendees will prepare healthy appetizers using fresh fall produce from local farmers. Turnips, butternut squash, apples, pears and more will be transformed into tasty and attractive creations under the direction of registered dieticians Marilyn Holmes and Melinda Mahoney. Tips on purchasing fresh produce, ways to use it, and the benefits of fall vegetables and fruits will be shared along with recipes.

This special event is a collaboration between the Vanderbilt Recreation and Wellness Center, Health Plus, and Rooted Community Health in the Center for Biomedical Ethics and Society.

Only 25 spots are available. Reserve your place by emailing Marilyn Holmes.

The Vandy Cooks demonstrations are offered monthly in the VRWC’s demonstration kitchen to celebrate healthy eating at Vanderbilt.
