Food Day, a nationwide celebration promoting healthy, affordable and sustainable food, is Friday, Oct. 24.
For the second year, Vanderbilt will observe national Food Day with a number of events to enhance the university community’s awareness of healthy eating.
Nutrition Minute Road Show
8 a.m., 10 a.m., 2 p.m., 4 p.m.
The Vanderbilt dietetic interns, in partnership with Health Plus and the Vanderbilt Recreation and Wellness Center, will take the Nutrition Minute Road Show to 32 departments and groups and present healthy eating tips and samples at locations on campus, at Vanderbilt Health One Hundred Oaks, in Murfreesboro and in Franklin.
Smoothie samples
10-11 a.m., 4-7 p.m., VRWC
Stop by the Vanderbilt Recreation and Wellness Center for a free smoothie sample.
Healthy Smart Choice sample
11 a.m.–1 p.m., VRWC
Executive chef Kelly from Campus Dining will provide samples from the Healthy Smart Choice menu at the Vanderbilt Recreation and Wellness Center.
Chef’s Table
11 a.m.–1 p.m., Courtyard Café and Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital
Join the Chef’s Table at the Courtyard Café and Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital food court. Enjoy samples and a chance to talk with one of our esteemed chefs about the healthy, affordable and sustainable foods they prepare daily.
Nutrition Minute
4-5 p.m., VRWC
Browse the Nutrition Minute table with Marilyn Holmes, VRWC manager, and learn about hunger prevalence in Davidson County and surrounding areas.

Check out Au Bon Pain and Susie’s, located on the main campus and at One Hundred Oaks, for special offerings in observance of Food Day.
