As part of Vanderbilt University’s ongoing Sesquicentennial celebration, the university created and distributed a free commemorative V150 coffee table book chronicling its rich history to over 1,000 staff and faculty members on Dec. 15 and Dec. 18. Rabbi David Wolpe, whom Newsweek called “the most influential rabbi in America,” will visit Vanderbilt, joining Divinity School Dean Yolanda Pierce for a fireside conversation centered around Vanderbilt’s commitment to free expression, constructive dialogue and mutual respect. The Vanderbilt Eye Institute and the Department of Biomedical Engineering present the Hoy Lecture Series: “Bringing Robotics to the Ophthalmology Clinic: The Challenges, Considerations, and Rewards of Introducing the General Public to Engineering Research Prototypes.” The presentation, featuring Ryan McNabb, Ph.D. and Anthony Kuo, M.D., will discuss the challenges, considerations and rewards of translating a robotic imaging system from the controlled environment of the engineering lab to interacting with the diverse population of the ophthalmology clinic. The Vanderbilt Eye Institute and the Department of Biomedical Engineering present the Hoy Lecture Series “How Round is the Eye Exactly?” The lecture, featuring Dr. Anthony Kuo and Ryan McNabb, will discuss how clinical and engineering collaboration was necessary as they developed ways to measure ocular curvature in different parts of the eye for ophthalmic care.
