Faculty Senate Chair Andrea Capizzi will host Chancellor Daniel Diermeier for a virtual conversation with faculty about academic freedom and institutional neutrality, followed by a question and answer session with Diermeier and Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs C. Cybele Raver. This online conversation will take place at 12 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 19. Registration is required.
Diermeier will discuss Vanderbilt’s longstanding commitment to institutional neutrality – not taking positions on social or political issues unless they directly affect the core operations of the university – which helps ensure an environment where our core values of academic freedom and free speech can flourish.
Faculty may submit questions in advance when registering for the webinar or through the chat feature during the virtual event. For those unable to attend live, the webinar will be recorded and shared with faculty by the Faculty Senate.
