Dr. James Crowe, Robert Carnahan and their colleagues in the Vanderbilt Vaccine Center won the Gold medal in the 2022 R&D 100 awards for their discovery and development of long-acting antibodies that protect against COVID-19. The discovery of these antibodies has led to the development of Evusheld, pre-exposure therapy to prevent COVID-19 for adults and children over 12 with compromised immune systems or a history of severe adverse reactions to a COVID-19 vaccine.
