Staff invited to join HR Masterclass

Hosted by Human Resources, the HR Masterclass program is now accepting applications for its inaugural cohort launching in spring 2024. The program extends a unique educational opportunity to Vanderbilt staff members, exposing them to the intricacies of human resource management. Participants will acquire vital skills and knowledge essential for being able to understand, strategically navigate and apply university HR policy and procedures.

Topics for the sessions include:

  • a human resources and campus partner overview
  • recruiting, interviewing and the hiring process
  • classifications, promotions and reclassifications
  • investigations and case studies
  • performance, discipline and dispute resolution
  • workforce and succession planning
  • compliance and employment regulations

The course will be on Tuesday mornings beginning in late January and will run through mid-April.

Applications are due Dec. 8, and participants will be notified in mid-December of their acceptance status. Applicants are asked to commit to completing Leading at VU in advance and attending each of the seven in-person sessions, which range from 2 to 2.5  hours per session.

To maintain an interactive and enriching experience, each cohort is limited to 25 participants. Applications are considered based on level of interest, background of experience and commitment to Vanderbilt University. Those not selected in this cohort will be considered for a future HR Masterclass program.
