Traffic Mitigation Measures from NDOT and VUPS

Before welcoming students, faculty and staff to campus for the start of the fall semester, Vanderbilt University officials and staff met several times to map out how to handle the increased traffic around construction projects related to the Frist Athletics Neighborhood and the 25th Avenue Garage.

To improve traffic flow for the 25th Avenue Garage, Nashville Department of Transportation has:

  • Modified the traffic signal at 25th and Highland avenues to increase left turn lane signal time from 25th onto Highland from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Modified the traffic signal at 25th and West End avenues to increase the left turn lane signal from 25th onto West End from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Additionally, Vanderbilt University Public Safety has traffic controllers stationed at 24th Avenue and Pierce Avenue and Vanderbilt Place from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Traffic controllers are also at the intersection of Pierce Avenue South and 23rd Avenue South weekdays from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. These traffic controllers help with vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
