Campus Dining to receive The Arc of Tennessee’s Inclusive Employer Award

Vanderbilt University Campus Dining has been named this year’s recipient of The Arc of Tennessee‘s Inclusive Employer Award. The award will be presented May 23 at The Arc’s annual awards banquet and ceremony during the Tennessee Disability MegaConference in Nashville.

The Inclusive Employer Award honors a Tennessee employer with an exceptional record of providing inclusive community employment opportunities and accommodations for people with disabilities.

The Arc is the nation’s largest and leading organization for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Campus Dining has employed and provided job-training opportunities to individuals and members from Project Search at Vanderbilt, Progress Inc., and Next Steps at Vanderbilt. These employees and interns assist Campus Dining in its dining centers and convenience stores.

“Our philosophy is to be inclusive, and we believe in great employees no matter their differences. We hire based on abilities alone,” says Michelle Halman, recruitment and training manager for Campus Dining.

Vanderbilt Campus Dining is an award-winning food service operating 22 locations on campus. Self-operated and financially self-supporting, all programs are designed specifically for the Vanderbilt student.
