HR workshops: ‘Crucial Conversations’ and ‘Coaching and Developing Staff’

Crucial Conversations

Friday, Sept. 15, and Friday, Sept. 22, 8:30 a.m.–4 p.m.

Have you ever avoided a difficult conversation because you were afraid it would result in a negative outcome? Have you ever started a difficult conversation only to have a bad situation get worse? If you would like to increase your skills to deal with conflict, this workshop provides you with a model that will increase your capacity to skillfully address emotionally and politically risky issues in order to achieve a mutually beneficial outcome. The emphasis is on learning how to speak and be heard while encouraging others to do the same. The goal of the workshop is to create a pool of shared meaning that leads to better results.

The content of this workshop requires a commitment of two full days with one week in between. Scheduling this way allows participants to process the material and is an effective way to deliver the content.

Training materials include many video clips of “before and after” situations. There is extensive in-class practice, group participation and personal reflection.

At the end of this workshop, you will:

  • Learn how to identify the crucial conversations that are key to organizational, team and interpersonal success
  • Master the tools of communicating when stakes are high
  • Experience a difference in your professional, community and personal life
  • Enhance a handful of high-leverage skills that will help you achieve the results you want
