Vandy Cooks is calling all hunters, anglers, adventurers and foodies to join registered dietitian Melinda Mahoney in the kitchen for some wild game cooking Wednesday, Oct. 14, from 5 to 6 p.m. in the Vanderbilt Recreation and Wellness Center Demonstration Kitchen. “Vandy Cooks: Cooking on the Wild Side” is presented by the Vanderbilt Recreation and Wellness Center and Health Plus.
Embrace your wild side as you try new foods, swap stories and celebrate the outdoors with delicious food. Learn techniques from the field to the table that will help you produce mouthwatering creations. This event is for anyone who enjoys food, not just the avid outdoorsman. Everyone will leave with food-preparation tips that can be applied to any type of meat, as well as recipes and samples of dishes prepared. Feel free to wear camouflage and bring pictures of your trophy game!
Melinda Mahoney is a health educator for Health Plus. Her main roles involve coordinating nutrition information into programming for Vanderbilt faculty and staff in a way that is practical, interactive and evidence-based. She is trained in wellness coaching and is passionate about helping others make healthy changes for a lifetime. Melinda grew up hunting and fishing with her older brothers and eventually married a die-hard fly fisherman. She is excited to combine her passions for food and the outdoors as she presents “Cooking on the Wild Side.”
This event is open to the Vanderbilt community.
