Can I change my Open Enrollment selections?

Open Enrollment is right around the corner. Are you ready? To help you prepare, Vanderbilt’s HR team is sharing the top 10 things you need to know.

Today’s tip is a reminder that you can make changes to your benefits selections at any time during the Open Enrollment period as long you complete your selections by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 31.

For example, if you would like to select a different health plan or change the amount of money you put into a flexible spending account, you can make changes to these selections as many times as you want during the enrollment period. Just make sure your final selections are submitted online by 11:59 p.m. Oct. 31.

After that, you can only make changes to the benefits plans included in Open Enrollment if you experience a qualifying event. These include marriage, divorce, birth or adoption of a child, death of a covered dependent, termination of employment, or change in spouse or same-sex domestic partner coverage. See the Family Status Change website for more information.

Remember: Open Enrollment begins at 8 a.m. Oct. 15 and ends at 11:59 p.m. Oct. 31. Selections are effective Jan. 1 – Dec. 31, 2015, unless you have a qualifying event as described above.
