Vanderbilt employees enjoyed ice cream and other frozen treats and the opportunity to connect with their co-workers during Vandy Chills on Aug. 8.

Employees from both university central and Vanderbilt University Medical Center mingled at multiple locations across campus. Eskind Biomedical Library, The Vanderbilt Clinic and Library Lawn each boasted a steady stream of employees between 11 a.m.– 3 p.m., while additional locations conducted ice cream “rounds” or office-specific celebrations.

The event was a success in employee turnout as well as feedback. “It’s good to take a break and meet some peers and colleagues that you don’t get to see on a regular basis and get yummy ice cream in the process,” said Tiara Aldridge, an obstetrics and gynecology resident.

The Nutty Buddy emerged as the most popular frozen treat choice, with the ice cream sandwich and orange creamsicle tying for second. The event was planned by the HR Organizational Effectiveness team.

“Vandy Chills is a great way to say thanks to our employees for all they do,” said Ann Hudson, program assistant with the HR Organizational Effectiveness team and a volunteer at the event. “It’s an opportunity to visit with co-workers and connect to the Vanderbilt community.”
