As a core activity of our employee celebration efforts, and more specifically to thank University and Medical Center faculty and staff for their continued commitment, the Employee Celebration Picnic will be held Friday, June 21.
To be mindful of financial constraints, especially those faced by the Medical Center this year, attention has been given to balance the importance of bringing employees together while still being thoughtful about expenses.
The planning team was asked to consider ways to contain costs, some of which include sending posters electronically, reusing signage, and a partnership with Jim ‘N Nick’s in which they donate a portion of the cost in support of Vanderbilt.
“As we ask our employees to sacrifice during these tight economic times, it is also important to remain committed to the gatherings and events that make Vanderbilt a great place to work. Maintaining traditions keep us connected and strengthen our workforce as we face tough challenges. While some may be willing to forgo recognition events, the opportunity for leaders to greet and celebrate staff and faculty is an important part of a high-functioning workplace,” Chief Human Resources Officer Traci Nordberg said.
The picnic, which will offer grilled chicken sandwiches, veggie burgers, dessert and drinks, will be held from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., and from 11 p.m. to 1a.m., on the Medical Center’s Plaza, located adjacent to Vanderbilt University Hospital.
Look for University and Medical Center leaders to serve your meal! Vanderbilt Health at One Hundred Oaks staff and faculty will also enjoy a picnic located on the One Hundred Oaks campus from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. while those in the clinics at Vanderbilt Health, Williamson, can expect deliveries between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. There will be shuttle routes from 10:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. from Kirkland Hall, Magnolia Circle and the Children’s Hospital shuttle stop.
