Step out for National Walking Day April 4

(Vanderbilt University)

The American Heart Association will host National Walking Day April 4, when adults nationwide will wear sneakers to work, take a walk and pledge to live heart-healthy lives.

To celebrate National Walking Day on the Vanderbilt campus, Health Plus staff will lead a 20-minute walk from the Medical Center North drop-off to Library Lawn on Wednesday, April 4. The walk begins at 11:45 a.m., and the event will conclude at 12:30 p.m.

The finish line at Library Lawn will offer water, fruit and a celebration of Vanderbilt’s commitment to a culture of wellness. Jerry Fife, vice chancellor for administration; Wright Pinson, associate vice chancellor for clinical affairs; Marilyn Dubree, executive chief nursing officer; and Traci Nordberg, chief human resource officer and associate vice chancellor, will participate.

Can’t join the group walk? Take 30 minutes to walk by yourself or with a co-worker. Find maps of the Vanderbilt campus’ marked walking trails here.

Start! Challenge 1 winners also may pick up their prizes at this event. Participants who accumulate at least 200,000 steps by March 31 earn a prize. Learn more and access the Start! Activity Tracker.
