Each fall, Vanderbilt University welcomes a cohort of more than 1,600 new first-year undergraduate students. As new students learn what it means to be a member of the Vanderbilt community, they participate in an extended orientation program called Vanderbilt Visions—small seminars with 18–20 students designed to support their transition to college life, foster community connection and introduce them to the wide range of resources available to support their success. Each Visions group is facilitated by a faculty member and an upper-division peer mentor, known as VUceptors, who work together to model dynamic and meaningful faculty-student engagement.
