The Vanderbilt women’s basketball team returns to March Madness after a 10-year hiatus, as the Commodores earned an at-large bid into the 2024 NCAA Tournament. Claims to Fame: Carolyn Peck’s road to the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame began at Vanderbilt, on and off the court
Carolyn Peck, BA'88, was a standout student-athlete who helped the Commodores beat Pat Summitt’s mighty Lady Vols. She also was the first Black women's basketball coach to win an NCAA Division I women’s basketball national championship—and, at 33, she was the youngest women’s basketball head coach to win a Division I title.
