Vanderbilt Board of Trust names four new members
The Vanderbilt University Board of Trust elected a slate of new trustees during its annual spring meeting in early May. William H. “Hal” Hess, JD’90, Keith Hoogland, BA’82, and John Ingram, MBA’86, will serve five-year terms beginning July 1. Ingram has already served on the board for a total of 20 years, with his first tenure from 2003 to 2013 and again from 2014 to 2024. Allison “Allie” Hall Eagles, BA’16, will serve a two-year term as the young alumni trustee.Read More

Julia Velkovska: Solving the world’s minuscule mysteries
As Cornelius Vanderbilt Professor of Physics and chair of the Department of Physics and Astronomy, Julia Velkovska studies the tiny particles that form our universe. She focuses on how nuclear matter behaves when confronted with extreme density and temperatures—similar to the conditions existing microseconds after the big bang, right as the universe was starting to take shape. This year, Velkovska and her team of physicists were awarded the 2025 Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics, along with 13,508 colleagues across four landmark CERN experiments.
