The Vanderbilt University Board of Trust elected a slate of new trustees during its annual spring meeting in early May. William H. “Hal” Hess, JD’90, Keith Hoogland, BA’82, and John Ingram, MBA’86, will serve five-year terms beginning July 1. Ingram has already served on the board for a total of 20 years, with his first tenure from 2003 to 2013 and again from 2014 to 2024. Grammy Award-winning songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Dom Flemons visited Vanderbilt’s Special Collections and University Archives on May 30 to view items from the Dom Flemons American Songster Collection, acquired by the university in late 2023. Anne Potter Wilson Music Library staff recorded Flemons discussing the collection, which includes musical instruments, art pieces, memorabilia and more. Items from the collection are featured in a new exhibit that opened May 31 at The Westin Nashville hotel in partnership with the Heard Libraries and the National Museum of African American Music.
Flemons’ visit to Nashville also included delivering the keynote presentation at the 41st Annual International Country Music Conference on May 29 and performing at the Grand Ole Opry on May 30. Read More
