Film producers to discuss Rev. James Lawson and nonviolent resistance during 2025 MLK Day commemorative event
Award-winning filmmakers Karen Hayes and Pamela Tom will speak at Vanderbilt University’s 2025 Martin Luther King Jr. Day commemoration. The kickoff event is scheduled from 5 to 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 15, in Sarratt Cinema. Hayes and Tom will discuss their new film, A Better Way: James Lawson, Architect of Nonviolence, insights into the filmmaking process, their time with the Rev. James Lawson, Lawson’s connections with Vanderbilt and Nashville, and the impact of his work in the broader Civil Rights Movement. 'Dores are Birmingham Bound: Vanderbilt football and Georgia Tech to meet on Dec. 27
For the 10th time in school history, Vanderbilt football is headed to a bowl game. Head coach Clark Lea’s Commodores have accepted an invitation to the Birmingham Bowl in Birmingham, Alabama, on Dec. 27. Vandy will face Georgia Tech at 2:30 p.m. on ESPN at Protective Stadium. Alan Wiseman, Catherine Gavin Loss appointed as associate provosts
Wiseman, an acclaimed political economist, was appointed associate provost for strategic projects and Gavin Loss, scholar of education history and policy, was appointed associate provost for academic affairs. Both will serve two-year terms within the Office of Faculty Affairs and Professional Education, with Wiseman’s appointment effective with the 2024–25 academic year and Gavin Loss’ appointment effective on Jan. 1, 2025.Read More
