K.C. Potter, beloved dean emeritus, has died 
Dean Emeritus K.C. Potter sits on a bench on the Vanderbilt campus with the Kirkland Hall front steps in the background.
K.C. Potter, JD’64, dean emeritus of residential and judicial affairs, died Aug. 27. Potter had an indelible impact on the life of the university and its students over more than three decades of service; he was 85 years old. Potter’s work gave him the opportunity to know students and for students to know him, and he gained a reputation for treating students with genuine care and respect—and for sporting his trademark bowties and later his Stetson hat.
