Fashion show to benefit VICC ovarian cancer research

Sep. 15, 2016—Fall fashions for women will be on display during the 4th Annual Chic Awearness Fashion Show promoting ovarian cancer awareness and research. The event, to be held Monday, Sept. 26, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., will benefit the T.J. Martell Foundation, which supports ovarian cancer research at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center (VICC).

Aug. 22, 2016—Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) has been named to the 2016 Becker’s Hospital Review list of 100 Hospitals and Health Systems with Great Oncology Programs. The annual list recognizes organizations leading the nation in cancer care.

Aug. 18, 2016—Children, adolescents or young adults, particularly African-Americans, diagnosed with advanced kidney cancer may actually have a rare form of the disease known as renal medullary carcinoma (RMC) that requires a specialized approach and expert intervention.

Aug. 17, 2016—Chicken Salad Chick Foundation founding board members Stacy Brown and Betty and Earlon McWhorter presented a $200,000 check to Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center (VICC) to support cancer research. Among other initiatives, the Chicken Salad Chick Foundation was proud to host Music and Miracles Superfest, the first major stadium concert in Jordan-Hare’s 75-year history, held on April 23 in Auburn, Alabama.

Kleberg Foundation grant bolsters cancer drug discovery efforts

Aug. 3, 2016—The Robert J. Kleberg Jr. and Helen C. Kleberg Foundation has awarded a $3 million grant to Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center (VICC) investigators in support of VICC’s drug discovery program. The gift awarded over the next three years from the private, San Antonio, Texas-based foundation will enable VICC researchers to pursue the development of new compounds to block the activity of cancer-causing genes and proteins that had previously been considered “undruggable.”

Jul. 25, 2016—For some people, cancer—especially colon cancer—is a persistent and potentially deadly visitor affecting family members from one generation to the next. Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center, in partnership with the Colon Cancer Alliance, is hosting a free seminar to educate the public about risk factors associated with the disease.

VICC expands cancer care services at Spring Hill clinic

Jul. 14, 2016—Cancer patients who live near Spring Hill, Tennessee, can now receive care from an experienced medical oncologist at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center (VICC) at Spring Hill instead of traveling to the main campus in Nashville.
