Vehicle, pedestrian route changes start Monday, Oct. 6, near Central Neighborhood

A series of sidewalk and roadway closures will begin on Monday, Oct. 6, in Vanderbilt’s Central Neighborhood. Whether you are walking, biking or driving, take time to chart a course that will make navigating campus a breeze.  

Vehicle Routes 

Oct. 6–13  

  • 24th Avenue between Garland Avenue and Vanderbilt Place opens to two-way traffic.  
  • Vanderbilt Place from 25th Avenue South to lot 21 closes. Commuters should use 24th Avenue South to access Vanderbilt Place.  
  • A portion of Stevenson Center Lane closes to vehicles.  
  • Lots 11 and 63 along 24th Avenue South closes to commuters. A new ADA parking lot is available along Vanderbilt Place near the Rand/Sarratt roundabout.  

Oct. 14–Summer 2026 

  • Vanderbilt Place closes between lot 21 and 24th Avenue South. 
  • Vanderbilt Place opens at 25th Avenue South to provide access to lot 21.  
  • 24th Avenue South opens to two-way traffic.  
  • A portion of Stevenson Center Lane remains closed to vehicles. 
  • Lots 11 and 63 along 24th Avenue South are closed to commuters. A new ADA parking lot is available along Vanderbilt Place near the Rand/Sarratt roundabout. 

Pedestrian Routes 

October 6-13 

  • Vanderbilt Place closes near the intersection for 25th Avenue South. 
  • South sidewalk along Vanderbilt Place closes; pedestrians should use the north sidewalk along Vanderbilt Place or the West End Neighborhood.  
  • A new pedestrian walkway opens near Stevenson Center 6 construction site. 

Oct. 14–Summer 2025 

  • Vanderbilt Place closes between 25th Avenue South and 24th Avenue South. 
  • Sidewalks along Vanderbilt Place between 25th Avenue South and 24th Avenue South close to pedestrians.  
  • Greek residents should use designated pathways along Vanderbilt Place or in West End Neighborhood to access their houses.  
  • Pedestrians should use the Green, Kensington Avenue or 24th Avenue South sidewalks to access main campus from Frist Athletics Village and Highland Neighborhood.  
  • Greek residents with buildings along Vanderbilt Place should use the Green to access the back entries of their buildings.  
  • Pedestrian pathways near Stevenson Center 6 construction site do not change.
