With just a few clicks, Vanderbilt students, faculty and staff can connect with volunteer opportunities across Nashville, thanks to the university’s new Get Connected platform.
Get Connected streamlines how members of the Vanderbilt community engage with service opportunities. The tool allows community partners to share their needs directly with campus, and it gives volunteers the flexibility to find opportunities that match their skills, schedules and interests.
A streamlined hub for service
Led by the Division of Government and Community Relations, Get Connected now serves as a “front door” for campus-community engagement. Community-based organizations can use the platform to advertise volunteer needs beyond their typical reach, and Vanderbilt volunteers can track their involvement and service hours in real time.
Broad support across campus
Campus leaders see the platform as an important step toward strengthening Vanderbilt’s role in the Nashville community. Student Affairs leaders call the platform “a game changer for the work students do in the Nashville community.” People, Culture and Belonging staff believe Get Connected will foster more efficient communication and deepen the university’s community partnerships and staff involvement. Members of the Vanderbilt Community Engagement Collaborative informed the adoption of the platform that both centers community partners’ needs and educates students, staff and faculty about local learning and engagement opportunities.
Building on a tradition of service
The launch underscores Vanderbilt’s ongoing commitment to deepening its connections with the Nashville community. By expanding volunteerism and creating new avenues for collaboration, the university aims to cultivate long-lasting partnerships that respond to community needs and create meaningful impact.
