FIRST-YEAR STUDENT MOVE-IN, Saturday, Aug. 16

First-year student Move-In is scheduled for Aug. 16.

Students have been emailed their room assignment information and a specific  time between 7 a.m. and noon. In addition, first-year students received a packet of materials in the mail in early August that includes items for Move-In: a designated house rearview mirror hangtag, a key release card and a star sticker (used if you plan to arrive by rideshare, taxi or shuttle). Students should bring these items with them; if students do not have their hangtag and key release card, staff will provide them in the staging areas upon arrival.

To provide a positive and efficient Move-In experience, Housing and Residential Experience carefully manages the process; it is extremely important to follow the directions below. DO NOT report directly to your assigned house. As you arrive on The Ingram Commons, all vehicles will be directed to designated staging areas where room keys are distributed, and vehicles are held until escorted to the houses for unloading.

  • Please report to your staging area at least 15 minutes before your assigned move-in time.
  • All staging areas are accessed from Edgehill Avenue.
  • As you approach The Ingram Commons, signs and staff will help you get where you need to go; please follow the posted signs and NOT GPS directions as you approach campus.
    • Note: If you are arriving to campus from 31st Avenue South/Blakemore Avenue/Wedgewood Avenue, there is NO access to the staging areas from 18th Avenue South; all vehicles arriving from this direction should approach the staging areas from 16th Avenue South.
  • MAP: Route to Staging Areas
  • Once at the staging area, you will be issued your room key.
  • Be sure to have your completed key release card with you. If you forget your card, one can be provided in the staging area.
  • Do NOT leave your staging area without your room key.
  • After receiving your room key, you will be escorted to your house to unload your vehicle.
  • Please work with the student volunteer Move Crew to unload your vehicle as quickly and safely as possible. The driver MUST remain with the vehicle.
  • If you are arriving at the staging area by rideshare, taxi or shuttle, please put the star sticker you got with your mailed housing packet over the driver information on your hangtag.  Rideshare hangtag example.
  • Once your vehicle is unloaded, the driver will be directed to long-term parking in Terrace Place Garage.
  • Shuttles will provide transport from the garage back to The Ingram Commons.

Students should activate their Mobile Commodore Card before arriving on campus, because it is needed to access the residence halls. Instructions for activation are available online.

Package information can be found on the Mail Services website.

More first-year housing information, including answers to frequently asked questions, is on the Housing website.

Carts are available for moving assistance and should be returned immediately after use.

  • Residence Hall Residents: Upon arrival to campus, please report to your designated area front desk to check in and pick up your room key. All students are required to pick up their room key. Area desk locations are online.
