Office of Cybersecurity to upgrade single sign-on and multifactor authentication

Vanderbilt University’s Office of Cybersecurity is introducing VTrust as part of a major initiative to strengthen digital security and safeguard academic freedom.

Beginning in April 2025, the university will transition from PING (single sign-on) and DUO (multifactor authentication) to Okta and Okta Verify. This upgrade will provide a faster, more secure and more user-friendly experience for accessing business applications, reinforcing Vanderbilt’s commitment to a cyber-safe environment.

What’s Changing?

  • One Login, All Applications – Sign in once and access all your essential applications from a single, secure dashboard.
  • Stronger Security – Okta provides advanced authentication to help keep your account and data safe.
  • Self-Service Convenience – Easily reset passwords and manage device enrollments without IT assistance.

What’s Next?

In the coming weeks, more details will be shared, including how-to videos and FAQs to help you navigate this transition smoothly. Stay tuned for updates and check the SSO and MFA transition updates page.
