Global Safety and Health now on VandySafe app

Global Safety and Health is now part of the VandySafe app, adding emergency support for our community members when they’re traveling outside Davidson County.

Global Safety and Health introduces three new features that are now available under Support Resources in the VandySafe app.

This enhancement puts critical information at your fingertips, all available under Support Resources in the VandySafe app, including:

  • 24/7 VIRT Emergency Contact: Travelers can access the Vanderbilt Incident Response for Travel emergency number (615-322-2745) for immediate assistance. Clicking the link opens a “call now” button to directly connect to VIRT.
  • Project Safe Contact: Select “Call Support Hotline” to directly connect to VU Project Safe (615-322-7233) for support.
  • U.S. Department of State 911 Abroad List: The link directs travelers to a list of emergency contact numbers in foreign countries.

Additionally, the Virtual Walkhome service has been expanded to off-campus and international locations through the VandySafe app. Vanderbilt community members with a U.S. or Canadian phone number and a stable cellular data or Wi-Fi connection can now use this feature wherever they are, providing an enhanced layer of safety and support for travelers. By using device location services, VUPD can monitor travel routes and, if necessary, automatically contact emergency services by dialing 911. VandySafe is also developing a component that will allow users to text with VIRT for more assistance if needed.

Make sure to update your VandySafe app to use these new features. Stay safe, Commodores!
