Crane on Pierce Avenue coming down Sept. 28–29, lane closures scheduled

As the Central Garage expansion on the Vanderbilt University Medical Center campus nears completion, the construction crane on Pierce Avenue will be dismantled. The removal will begin at 5 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28, and conclude on Sunday, Sept. 29, at 11 p.m. 

  • Staff can exit the Central Garage Pierce Avenue exit from 6:30 a.m. to 8 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday by turning right only. 
  • One southbound lane of traffic on the west side of 21st Avenue, from the Vanderbilt pedestrian bridge to Pierce Avenue, will be closed during the shutdown. 
  • More than 10 officers will be on site to direct vehicle and pedestrian traffic, including at the 21st Avenue lane closure, Children’s Way and Pierce Avenue.
