As part of the Central Utilities Initiative, phased underground boring and exploratory work will take place from Sept. 30 to Oct. 18, resulting in periodic lane and sidewalk closures.
The underground work will be in four locations:
- Area A, Sept. 25 to Oct. 3
- Area D, Oct. 4–15
- Area B, Oct. 8–12
- Area C, Oct. 13–24
The noise and disruption from this underground work is expected to be minimal.
Vehicles
- Single lane closures will be daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. along 25th Avenue South near Vanderbilt Place, Sept. 25–27.
- Single lane closures will be daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. along Vanderbilt Place near 25th Avenue South on Sept. 30, Oct. 1 and Oct. 3.
- Single lane closures will be daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. along Vanderbilt Place between 25th Avenue South and the Branscomb turnaround on Oct. 4–6.
- Single lane closures will be at the temporary drive in front of the Student Life Center on Oct. 8 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Single lane closures will occur on Garland Avenue near parking Lot 18 on Oct. 14 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Part of the parking lot at the corner of Garland Avenue and 24th Avenue South and the nearby sidewalk will be closed Oct. 13 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Pedestrians should be aware that these lane closures could include nearby sidewalk closures. Pedestrians should follow the signs, and an accessible pathway will always be available.
All pedestrian and vehicle routes are subject to change. Updates will be shared in MyVU and on the Facilities Instagram and X accounts.
