Portion of Children’s Way to close Aug. 14–15 for utility work

Alternative vehicular and pedestrian pathways along Children’s Way and 24th Avenue South will be in effect Aug. 14–15.  

Vehicles 

  • The westbound lane and middle turning lane of Children’s Way between the entrance of West Garage and 24th Avenue will be closed. 
  • The eastbound lane of Children’s Way will remain open.  
  • The Children’s Way entrance to West Garage will remain open. To enter, commuters should take Blakemore Avenue to 25th Avenue to Children’s Way, or take Blakemore Avenue to Natchez Trace to Children’s Way.  
  • The 24th Avenue South entrance will remain open.  

Pedestrians 

  • The south sidewalk along Children’s Way between 25th Avenue South and 24th Avenue South will remain fully accessible. The north sidewalk will be closed between the Children’s Way West Garage entrance and 24th Avenue South. 
  • The east sidewalk along 24th Avenue South between Blakemore Avenue and Children’s Way will remain fully accessible. The west sidewalk will be closed.  

The work will take place daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Traffic controllers will be on-site to direct vehicular and pedestrian traffic.  

All pedestrian and vehicular routes are subject to change. Updates will be shared via MyVU and on the Facilities Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) accounts.
