Soil boring, lane closures start Aug. 12 for Central Utilities Initiative

A series of underground boring and probes will begin on Aug. 12 to survey and inspect underground soil and rock conditions as part of the Central Utilities Initiative. The geotech work will take place daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for five to seven days.

Sampling along 25th Avenue South near the Kensington Promenade (A-1 and A-2) and the Student Life Center circle (A-3, A-4, and A-5) will cause temporary roadway closures:

  • 25th Avenue South single lane closures will be on Monday, Aug. 12, starting at 9 a.m. and will last 1-2 hours.
  • Student Life Center circle lane closure will occur on Monday, Aug. 12, after the work is completed north on 25th Avenue South. That closure is expected to last 1-2 hours.

The remainder of the boring work will be on campus (see map for exact locations).

The noise generated by this work is expected to be minimal, and no vibrations should be felt in the surrounding areas.

25th Avenue South between Highland Avenue and Children’s Way will remain closed.

All pedestrian and vehicle routes are subject to change. Updates will be shared in MyVU and on the Facilities Instagram and Twitter accounts.
